The housed format does not establish suitability by itself. Engineering review starts with how the material arrives at the separation point and how the captured and non-captured fractions must leave it.
Material condition
Confirm material identity, process state, particle-size distribution, flowability, moisture or slurry condition where applicable, bulk density and temperature.
Separation objective
Define the target ferrous material, size, shape and concentration, then state whether the duty is equipment protection, purification, recovery or another controlled objective.
Stable presentation
Provide feed method, usable width, normal layer depth, surging risk and normal/peak feed conditions. Unstable presentation cannot be corrected by a nominal drum specification.

Feed and splitter
Confirm inlet geometry, feed distribution, layer depth, splitter position and separate discharge routes for the product and captured fraction.
Drive and rotating interface
Confirm duty cycle, drive arrangement, required speed window, shaft and bearing interfaces, guarding and controls before a drive is selected.
Contact and wear surfaces
Confirm which surfaces contact the process material, abrasion or corrosion exposure, liner requirements, finish and cleaning method. No material grade is assumed.
Installation
Provide inlet/outlet coordinates, support points, available envelope, access for inspection and cleaning, utilities and surrounding equipment constraints.
Acceptance
Agree the measured variable, representative material, sampling plan, operating conditions and acceptance criterion before performance is committed.
